The first win of the season was a long time coming for the Oakville Rock, and it wasn't in time to save Phil Sanderson's job, but the team is finally in the win column following a 14-8 victory over the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks Sunday in Waterloo.

Oakville employed five- and four-goal runs to take a 9-2 lead over the Kodiaks and held on for the win from there. Captain Stephan Leblanc was the big gunner for Oakville, scoring 3 goals and adding 5 assists. Rob Hellyer and Jeremy Noble each and 2 goals and 3 assists to help the cause. Joey Cupido and Luke Laszkiewicz had a pair of goals each to lead the Kodiaks.

The Rock won't have much time to rest on their laurels. Oakville is right back in action Monday night when they play host to the Brampton Excelsiors at 8pm at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre.
