Six Nations Chiefs top goal scorer Roger Vyse has been named Offensive Player of the Week. Vyse, who also leads the Chiefs in points scored (39) this season, opened scoring on Thursday and tallied an assist in the second in the 7-5 win in Brampton. Vyse again opened scoring for the Chiefs on Sunday, recording a total of three goals and two assists in the 10-6 home win against the Excelsiors.
Picking up a win and a tie in two low scoring games, Oakville Rock goal tender Tye Belanger has been named Defensive Player of the Week. In both outings, Belanger held Rock opponents, the Brooklin Redmen on Wednesday and K-W Kodiaks on Saturday, to only 6 goals.
Currently ranked second among transition players in points (20), Peterborough Lakers’ Brad Self has been named Transition Player of the Week. Self recorded 4 points (3G, 1A) in the Lakers only game of the week, a 14-13 win over the K-W Kodiaks.
Leading the rookies in points (26), K-W Kodiaks Mike Teeter has been named Rookie Player of the Week. Teeter recorded 8 points in the Kodiaks’ 3 games last week; a goal and two assists in both Tuesday’s 8-7 win against Brooklin and Thursday’s 14-13 loss in Peterborough, and another 1 goal and 1 assist in Saturday’s 6-6 tie in Oakville.
